Two days ago, we invited you to participate in the Smashing Community Icon Set event, in which you would tell us what icons you want and we would design them for you together with the design agency SoftFacade of Russia. We express our sincere gratitude for the engagement of our readers, the useful feedback and the support. Thank you!

Indeed, we were overwhelmed by the amount of ideas and suggestions. Overall, we received over 430 comments in our announcement post and in the forum. We identified over 120 (!) various ideas, combined them according to similarity and ranked them in order of popularity. We ended up with the seven most popular ideas.

And now it is your turn to decide which icon set we should design. Please vote for your favorite set in the poll below. And please spread the word so that as many users as possible can participate, so that the set that is truly most wanted by the community is chosen. You have 48 hours.

Let’s take a close look at the most popular ideas that were presented in your comments in the magazine and in the forum:

1. Portfolio Icons Set A set of icons that could be used in portfolios and sites of design agencies. Examples: showreel, hire me, future projects, invoice, cv, graphic design, product design, illustration, drawings, brainstorming, donate, photography, freelance, full-time, finished work, current work, collaboration, free for job, busy, upcoming work.
2. E-Commerce Icons Set A set of icons that could be used in various commercial applications (e.g. online-shops). Examples: credit, bank, bestseller, featured, premium, special offer, limited edition, payment cards, basket, product, category, attributes, brand, order, shipping, bank, credit card, PayPal.
3. Web Application Set A set of icons that could be used in web-applications or online-services where registration is required. Examples: login, logout, edit, my account, settings, sign in, sign out, sign up, contact, collaboration, process/workflow, project, publish, library, cost, ticket, milestone, issue, comment, invoice, order, product, category, customers, suppliers.
4. Blog icon set A general icon set for bloggers, containing icons comment, email, feed, user, delicious, twitter, pencil/pen, star/heart, folder, pencil, calendar, date, sitemap, search.
5. CMS Icon Set A set of icons for interface designs in CMS. Examples: archives, old versions / draft versions, document library, consulting, business contact, networking, communication, statistitcs, advertising, administrative docs, billing.
6. Forum / Community Icon Set A general set of icons for various forums and boards. Example: reply, new thread, new topic, save, preview, submit, active topics, new posts, unanswered posts.
7. Robots / Geeks Icon Set A set of original creatures (robots or some other geeks). Examples: single robot, multiple robots, robot with a shout bubble, robot with a heart, robot with a gear, robot with envelope.
